Keeping Buckeye

Open for Business

Continuing Buckeye excellence

Promoting fiscal responsibility

  • As a small business owner, Eric understands the need to balance budgets and spend money wisely.  He has brought finance, infrastructure, land development and business experience to the city council.

  • During his time as Mayor, he has committed to providing stable, responsible fiscal stewardship and keeping property taxes low.

  • The City Council has kept the budget balanced while making significant investments in services for residents as well as infrastructure improvements to keep up with the “Fastest Growing City in the United States.”

Improving public safety

  • Eric is committed to investing in public safety to ensure that response times remain low and Buckeye remains the “Safest city in Arizona.”

  • Eric worked with the Buckeye Fire Medical Rescue Department to champion the award-winning Community Paramedicine Program.

  • During his time as Mayor and on council, they worked together to authorize construction of three permanent fire stations serving new communities and constructed new public safety facilities including administration buildings for police and fire and a police evidence and training facility.

Attracting jobs and economic development

  • With Cardinal Glass, Parker Fasteners, and others, Buckeye has seen a surge in high-tech and manufacturing jobs.  Eric helped streamline the development process to ensure that Buckeye is a great place to do business.

  • Eric has also worked with Jones Ford and increased business and local retail investment along Watson, Verrado, and Roosevelt Roads

  • During Eric’s time as Mayor, they invested in Historic Buckeye with infrastructure projects, an economic catalyst program and streetscape improvements.

  • Buckeye Airport is one of Buckeye’s greatest economic opportunities – not only did the council invest in infrastructure improvements including ramp pavement renovation, lighting, run up areas and water infrastructure, they also grew the Buckeye Air Fair / Copperstate Fly In and attracted businesses at the airport including the first Fixed Base Operator, a very successful sky diving operation, and a heavy lift helicopter operation.

Improving quality of life

  • Eric has committed to quality of life and protecting Buckeye’s open space.  With the opening of Skyline Regional Park, Sundance Park, and the White Tank Mountain Conservancy, Buckeye has more open space than any other city in the valley.

  • Eric has worked closely with Mayor Meck on the El Rio – salt cedar mitigation and consolidated planning which helps improve safety and reduce future floor risks. The El Rio will become a recreational jewel and a restored biological corridor in The City of Buckeye.

  • The City Council helped Buckeye transition from a small town to a world class city by stabilizing executive leadership and helping to recruit, maintain, and grow competent highly skilled staff to serve our residents.

  • Eric worked hard to pass an award-winning General Plan Update to manage growth, a Traffic Master Plan Update to mitigate future congestion, and a Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan to ensure a livable and walkable community.

Promoting Quality Education

  • Education is critical in attracting jobs and training our future workforce.  From public schools to charter schools, Buckeye has some of the best schools in the entire region.

  • Eric is an outspoken advocate for West-MEC and the career and technical education that it offers.  The Southwest Campus is one of a kind in the country and offers amazing opportunities to help grow our future workforce.

  • The City Council also worked to expand Estrella Mountain Community College opening a satellite campus ensuring there were more secondary education opportunities in Buckeye.

Securing water future

  • Another key component of Buckeye’s long-term success is the ability to provide reliable and affordable water to our residents.  Eric worked with the Mayor and the council to secure our water future and modernize our water department to improve reliability and customer service.

  • As part of these efforts, the city secured Buckeye’s future and its ability to attract more investment by purchasing Global Water.  This investment will help improve water quality, pressure, fire flow, availability and to lock down economic development opportunities.
